Bio
When Jean Stewart and Lisa Robertson were awarded the title of Old Town’s 2017 Battle of the Bands Winner, they were a little surprised considering they did it with only guitar and vocals; but these ladies, now known as the Betties, have been making music together for over 20 years and it is apparent their harmonies only get better with time. This acoustic duo entertains listeners of all ages with a song selection that can reach all the way back to the fifties and move through the decades to today’s current downloads. Known for their “warm fun soulful” interpretations of these popular hits, these Betties do not shy away from any genre and tailor each set-list to fit the specific event at hand.
It all began when Jean answered an ad for a bass player needed for an original folk rock band that was forming in Atlanta, Georgia. There was an immediate chemistry between them and they have been writing, singing and playing in various configurations ever since. In 2015 they moved to Florida and stumbled upon a weekly opportunity to perform before they even had found a place to call home. Regrettably that venue no longer exits but the bonds they formed during that time with other local talent has endured. In fact, they have enjoyed playing with many accomplished musicians over the years and you never know what guest may hop up and sit in as an honorary Bettie for the night.
Jean and Lisa are committed to the journey of following their bliss together and are excited to share their passion with the audience. Their goal is to have fun and it is intoxicating to those within earshot which leads to sing-a-longs, laughing and dancing. Whether the gig is at an intimate private party, local pub, or on a festival stage, the Betties consistently deliver compelling and engaging performances. Indeed, you will undoubtedly leave their show happier than you were when you arrived.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND
We would like to thank our namesake, Betty White, for being such an inspiration to us. Before each gig, we remind ourselves that our goal is to spread joy. We strive to make people smile like Betty did for nearly 100 years. We wish to keep her spirit alive and we will continue to ask the question, what would Betty Do?
